How it works
- Choose the apps that distract you.
- Start a focus session. Those apps stay blocked.
- To end the session, tap or scan your physical key.
Your key
- An NFC sticker (NTAG213, about €1).
- A card you already own. Not every card works. Test yours.
- A printed QR code (Android alpha; iPhone coming later).
Why
Commercial physical blockers cost about €50 to €70. Open Blocker is free and open source (MIT), and you can use a key you may already have.
Honest limits
The key is a key for honesty, not security. It is not protected against copying. On Android, a determined user can get around the block, for example with safe mode, by uninstalling the app, or by turning off the Accessibility service.
Platforms
- iPhone: in development. The iPhone app uses Apple's Screen Time API (Family Controls, individual authorization) only so you can block apps on your own device. The apps you select are opaque tokens from Apple and never leave your device.
- Android: early alpha, not yet tested on real devices.
Privacy
No account and no sign-in. No ads, no tracking, no analytics SDKs. Your settings, keys and app selections stay on your phone. Read the full privacy policy.
